Single Malt Whisky Reviews from Australia

IMAGE TITLE

Tried this while visiting a whisky bar in Japan that had a decent stock of Scotch Malt Whisky Society bottles. Caol Ila, refill bourbon cask, and a recommendation from a friend meant that I couldn't say no.

Notes

Eye: Light blonde

Nose: Heavy barbecue with lots of fresh citrus. Ocean elements. Very dry intense peat. Honey with time.

Palate: Sweet peat with a heavy lemon / lime mix. Then comes the salty maritime rush.

Finish: As you exhale it's as if a barbecue was just extinguished in your mouth. Very medicinal malty finish, with a juicy citrus twist. Peat just goes on and on.

I knew this whisky was going to be good just based on the nose, but the palate and finish were absolutely fantastic. Port Ellen style fantastic with a lot of juicy citrus and a heavy level of barbecue and peat. Going to have to do some hunting to try find a bottle of this! Music to fit with this dram is from The Prodigy.
