SMWS 3.198 Smoker's Tooth Powder and Dentist's Chairs Whisky Review
Up for review we have here a 14 year old sherry casked Bowmore. This interesting sounding single cask from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society was tasted a few weeks back at the joint SMWS and Oak Barrel hosted Bowmore tasting with Gordon Dundas. I had another engagement pop up that night at the last minute but fortunately my ticket did not go to waste! Thanks to those who organised the samples for me.
Notes
Eye: Golden
Nose: Smoke, berries, apple, maritime elements. Very sweet. Medicinal quality not often seen in Bowmore. Nose it neat, take your time.
Palate: Very sweet on first contact then becomes medicinal. After that the peat and ash wash over with a good dash of brine. Water added a waxy quality.
Finish: Sooty, ashy, sweet and briney at the same time. Interesting berry and apple notes. Lingering peat. Long with a great mouthfeel. Water brought out some pineapple notes in the tail. Don't add much though.

Fantastic late 90's Bowmore in a quality cask. The nose on this one was very complex and was most enjoyable to nose. Would have loved a big fat Cohiba to go with it. To go with this whisky we have some music from the late Amy Winehouse.
