Miyagikyo NAS 2014 Whisky Review
This one was brought back from Japan for me by a good friend, Jeremy. We can get this here in Australia but it is three times the price. This whisky is produced by Nikka and is from the Sendai region of Japan. Apparently this particular whisky is about to be replaced with a new NAS variant that is supposed to contain younger whiskies, due to shortages in Japanese whisky stocks.
Notes
Eye: Orange amber
Nose: Perfectly balanced. Mixture of fruit, delicate floral perfume, some good citrus more on the orange meets lemon side of things. Absolutely zero new make or immature whisky smell.
Palate: Ever so smooth and delicate. Hints of sherry cask come through with gorgeous fruits and floral elements.
Finish: Long and uncompromising. Floral malt rides out with perfectly balanced fruit flavours. Perfect oak influence. Great mouthfeel. All NAS whisky should be held to this standard.

Very glad I got to try this one in its current form before the re-launch. Japanese distilleries really know how to release a good No Age Statement whisky, fantastic even.
