Duncan Taylor Glenrothes 40yr 1969 Lonach Whisky Review
Whisky from 1969, enough said. This gorgeous offering of Glenrothes distillate from Duncan Taylor is quite a bit older than me, blows ones mind to think of all the stuff that happened between this being laid to rest and being poured into my glass. Quite the privilege.
Notes
Eye: Very light considering the age
Nose: Slightly under ripe bananas, brown sugar, hints of green vegetation.
Palate: Incredibly smooth combination of banana, orange citrus, velvet oak spice and vanilla. Some grasses in there.
Finish: Rather short. Brown sugar, orange and banana fade out. Lovely and dry on the outset. Perfect oak interaction in my opinion.

This bottling is sold out in Australia and has been for a few months, doubt there is any stock left anywhere. At the price these were sold at I’m not surprised, not often you get a 40yr aged whisky for under $200 AU.
Song I have chosen is from the son of Afrobeat artist Fela Kuti, Seun Kuti and his band Egypt 80. They are touring Australia shortly and I’m really looking forward to seeing them. Song I have chosen is called ‘African Soldier’ from the album ‘From Africa with Fury: Rise’. Great track, gets me dancing every time I hear it.
