Single Malt Whisky Reviews from Australia

Duncan Taylor Caol Ila 29yr 1983 Dimensions Whisky Review

Caol Ila. One of my all time favourite distilleries.

Notes

Eye: Amber

Nose: Cant smell any real smoke here, very medicinal yet sweet at the same time. Iodine with sherry and some ripe berry fruits.

Palate: Sweet medicinal peat. There’s the maritime smoke. Hardly any on the nose but it isn’t shy on the palate. Hints of blackberries and also some eucalyptus.

Finish: Long and oily. Salty smoky maritime with a sweet edge rides this one out. I wonder if this is an old refill sherry cask?

Music wise we have a song from The Mars Volta, “Roulette Dares (The Haunt Of)”. You should listen to the whole album “De-Loused In The Comatorium" however, it’s a journey and should be listened to from beginning to end.
