The Ultimate Whisky Company: Bowmore 2000 Vintage (6yr)
For this evenings review I am joined by the person who first introduced me to single malt whisky, my old flatmate Joe. The first whisky he ever gave me was a glass of Bowmore Legend, so to honour him popping my whisky cherry with such a fine malt I am returning the favour with a gorgeous looking bottle of Bowmore I won at auction recently.
Eye: Light honey.
Nose: Spicy citrus with that familiar Bowmore smoke. Hints of the ocean on a rough day.
Palate: Spicy at first, quite sweet. Doesn’t show it’s age as much as I thought it would. No new make elements whatsoever. Quite citrusy and dry. Bit of vanilla and salt thrown in for good measure. Peat complements the flavours very well.
Finish: Becomes more maritime. Peat and ocean. Citrus is there but is hanging in the background.
Age: 6yr’s Old
Limited: Bottle 39
Bottler: The Ultimate Whisky Company, NL
Distillation Date: 28th March 2000
Bottling Date: 10th October 2007
This was a really good example of a young Bowmore. It’s not too often you see it bottled at 6 years old. If anyone gets the chance to try this I highly recommend it. Wasn’t very expensive either (35GBP). To go with this whisky I have selected a classic track from Bob Marley - Jammin, enjoy.
